Hi, I’m Anna!

I was born and raised in Minnesota, but over the last 15 years I have managed to live in 4 different cities and made Calgary, Alberta my home.

I started my academic career at the University of North Dakota studying accounting.  After a year and a half in the accounting program, I realized it wasn't for me and I missed being creative.

I searched high and low for a graphic design program that offered a Bachelor of Science because I was most interested in creating user-centred design.  I found my home at Arizona State University in the Graphic Information Technology program.

After graduating from Arizona State University, I felt that there was still more to learn about human-computer interactions (HCI) so I applied to the University of Calgary.  I was accepted into the Computational Media Design master's program and hired as a research assistant in the Interactions Lab (iLab).  During my time at the iLab, I was able to help run numerous studies and take courses to better my knowledge about research and HCI.  I co-authored a paper about how users interact with each other using mobile video conferencing.  It was accepted in CHI in 2015, which is one of the largest HCI conferences.  Due to personal circumstances, I moved to Chicago and had to forgo finishing my master's degree.

I have been fortunate to work in various parts of user experience design including internal facing tools, ecommerce, and CAD-like software. I haven’t found a project I didn’t enjoy and especially enjoy challenges and engaging end users. I have recently completed the Nieslen Norman UX Master Certificate.

In my free time, I like to hang out with my family; my husband, daughter and two dogs. I am an avid DIYer and love doing projects around the house.
